Having been born a creative person, art was my passion. Starting in oils when I was very young was just the start. I became an acomplished fashion designer. Experiencing cake decorating was a sweet pleasure. After taking a long hiatus from my own creativity to have and raise 5 children, I returned to the art scene in 1980 and became a self taught glass artist, begining with stained glass and progressing on to hot glass in 1989. Learning torchworked beading was more difficult and that learning began in 2006.
I owned and operated a retail stained glass supply and art gallery from 1989 to 1999. I closed the retail gallery in 1999 and moved it to my own studio and reopened a working studio in 2003. All glass supplies are available, studio hours are maintained, but only by appointment.
In 2006 I found returning to school made a lot of sense, specializing in Web Page Design, Oil Painting and Water Color. I turly love all venues of art. I do hope to soon be working with autistic children in art therapy. I have also worked with the young people of scouting, 4-H, the local school district and the Christian Acadamy. I enjoy working with children the most.
My education is continuing at Big Bend Community College where I expect to have a minor degree in art and computer science.
At this stage of my life, none of my children are interested in art, probably because they grew up with it. However, I have a couple of aspiring artists among the Grandchildren. Vacation at Grandma's house always includes time with the paints and brushes or the clay.
