BEE JAY is a self taught artist whose work is heavily influenced by Black American cultural & historical perspectives and the Christian faith.
She began drawing at the age of 4 and works primarily in acrylics; but also uses mixed media, fabric, and pencil. This ordained and licensed minister incorporates theological motifs in her work whenever possible as she creates paintings, greeting cards, and book, compact disk, and vehicle wheel cover designs. BEE JAY taught children's art from 1999 until 2004, but relinquished those responsibilities to pursue seminary studies.
BEE JAY is founder and CEO of Transforming Ministries Group. She earned a Doctor of Ministry Degree with honors in Transformational Church Leadership, and a Master of Divinity Degree with honors in Theology from the American Baptist Seminary of the West, one of 9 consortia seminaries of the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California. She has earned over 15 prestigious awards and honors for her scholarly insights into modern faith, the development of Christian education curricula, and the role of spirituality in everyday life for children and youth.
BEE JAY plans to return to her passion for creating visual art renditions as time allows.
