I am a mostly self taught artist. I spend most of my adult years as a registered nurse, and then a home schooling mother, but always dabbled in artistic things, never satisfied to just follow a pattern, or follow directions, always wanting to make it 'my own.' Several years ago I discovered paper mache, as I made pinatas for a Spanish class I was teaching, and was inspired to take it from a craft to an art form, and began hand building vessels without armatures, and also creating large birds. I showed this work in a number of shows and sold quite a few pieces. Then a couple of years ago, I became fascinated with abstract painting, and worked in that genre for a while, and I still do that. I work mostly in acrylics, and occasionally in mixed media/collage, with an occasional excursion into art jewelry using my paper mache experience. I do some commission work, and show my work in several venues. I continue to be a stay-at-home...daughter, now caring for my 93 year old mother, and run another business from home in the health field. Art is my release, and it is a very spiritual thing for me. My desire is to express my love for God's creation, whether it be realistic paintings of this world, expressionistic paintings of the joys and tribulations, the sadness and the hope, or expressly religious subjects. All for the glory of God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth.
