I work in various media, including pen & ink, oil paintings, photography & colored pencil drawings. I have a BFA with a concentration in printmaking and art history from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio. I have shown my work in a gallery in Columbus' Short North in the late-80s and had a one-person show of my textured & mono-chromatic paintings at a hair salon also in Columbus' Short North District. My works are in several private collections, and I have done a number of commissioned pieces over the years. My 14 year old son and I are passionate about assisting the people of Japan as a result of the unfortunate events of March 11, 2011. Erik contributed a drawing called I Love Japan by Erik Akerman, and I administer a Group here on FAA called Charitable Relief Japan where many FAA artists have contributed wonderful works with a portion or all of their proceeds going to charities such as the Red Cross to aid the people of Japan. Also, please see the Discussion called Japan Aid 2011 and the Press Release link on that Discussion. I have also dedicated a page on my website: www.akermansart.com to this cause.
