Playful colors, Nostalgia, and F*U*N, is the decided style of artist, Beth Saffer of BettinaBlue Designs.
Bettina Sapphire, (her artist alter-ego name), wishes her artwork to be 'Happy Art', a feel-good place to go. Having lived in London for several years, she found the English approach to bold color in design a tremendous influence.
Bettina graduated with a degree in literature and rhetoric at Binghamton University, finding the written word to link creatively with her visual statements. Years later, while raising her two daughters, she went back to study art in various mediums at a variety of art schools in Manhattan, and has continuously studied under the tutelage of renowned illustrator, Alan Reingold. Bettina's passion for color eventually led her to study for a degree in textile and surface design at the Fashion Institute of Technology, NYC. Her textile design work led her to further study for her C.I.D., finding decorating to be an offshoot of the textile visual processes. Because she finds inspiration everywhere, photography is a natural love as well.
Bettina is inspired by artists and designers: Favorite Maira Kalman! Vera Neumann, Alexander Girard, Mary Blair, Charley Harper, Tricia Guild - for their whimsical play with color and pattern.
