ARTIST STATEMENT
Painting was not an option for me until I attended college. It was in art classes that a whole new world opened up to me. My interests narrowed down to painting landscapes, due to the continuous challenges that it offers. Constantly changing light, atmospheric conditions and seasonal changes, plus remembering the ground rules of what makes a good painting, are just a few of the challenges I have encountered in painting landscapes. The objective as I see it, is not necessarily to paint just what I see as the moment, in other words, not having to always be technically correct, but to give myself the freedom and confidence to paint what I feel in regard to the subject matter, without constraints or fear of negative opinions or judgment of others.
