Longtime photographers, Bob and Jan Shriner, both originally learned how to capture images on film and to print those images in an old-fashioned darkroom. Bob started out in a high school photography class, where he became an expert at hunting out unusual subjects, and touching up black and white prints by hand. Jan took her first class in photography in 6th grade with an old Brownie camera. For years she pursued painting watercolors and only took photographs in an effort to find subjects for her paintings. Many years later, photography classes at the local college pointed her once again towards photography.
Both are inspired by nature and the beauty they find around them; they work as a team to capture the many beautiful birds, animals, and other special things that they see 'along the way'!
They have sold or donated their photographs to many agencies including the National Parks Service. They currently maintain a site for birders containing descriptions and photographs of all the birds they find. Their photographs also try to document the unusual behaviors of each bird.
