Also known as 'A Broad Abroad,' Bonnie Sue enjoys traveling around the world and painting watercolor landscapes. She recently retired after teaching art at Santa Monica High School for 37 years. Now, she's enjoying a second career as an artist, keeping active with exhibits to showcase her paintings.
Bonnie Sue has traveled on over 100 cruises, often as a Special Interest Lecturer. While in each port, she finds a local landmark, a beautiful beach, a mountain top or a tropical setting and does a small sketch that she will recreate during the next day's presentation. She has mastered her unique technique of simultaneously lecturing while completing a watercolor painting in front of the audience.
In addition to cruise ship passengers, Bonnie Sue has made speeches to a variety of audiences. She won a Rotary International Scholarship and spent a year in Tasmania, Australia giving speeches to over 50 Rotary Clubs. Her exciting travel adventures and exuberant storytelling are reflected in her vibrant paintings. She loves meeting people from other cultures and all walks of life, who enjoy sharing with her their own passion for art, travel and ballroom dancing. And, they most appreciate her sense of humor, beginning with her self-description as 'A Broad Abroad.'
Whenever she returns home to Southern California, Bonnie Sue is commissioned to do paintings of private homes, well known hotels and popular landmarks. Her paintings have been exhibited throughout Europe, South America, Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, Africa, India and the United States.
