About Brandon Cale

My pictures are dedicated to my mom, who was a great amateur photographer and archivist. When she passed away in May 2012 (FUCK CANCER!) she left me her camera and told me to enjoy my life, travel and take lots of pictures. I dove into photography. I taught myself by trial and error, using 'DSLR Photography for Dummies' as a reference. I studied every picture I could find by my favorite pros, and I practiced alot... Eventually I bought a Nikon, my baby. I got my first Press Pass for Wakarusa 2013, and have shot several Pipeline Productions shows since, including Yonder Mountain Harvest Festival, several shows at Crossroads, and The Bottleneck and Granada in Lawrence. There is nothing I enjoy more than being in the pit for a show.

EVERY picture I take is dedicated to Stephanie Fell, my beautiful Baldwin girl who was my kindred spirit in every way. She lost her battle with Cancer in May 2013. I got to be with her in Wilmington N.C. for a month before she passed, spending every night awake by her side, talking or watching tv, or editing pics while she sketched or napped. Then I would shoot sunrise or sunset on Wrightsville Beach or The Cape Fear River, getting better shots every day. It was the most beautiful, heart-wrenching, wonderful, horrible thing I have ever experienced, and the most important thing i have ever done, helping her go peacefully. I will never be the same. I carry some of her ashes around my neck everywhere I go. She is my guardian angel...

My pictures are also dedicated to my father, who passed in September 2013. Again, I spent many nights by his side, talking about his childhood, baseball, anything I could think of to ask him. The Royals had their best season in years, it was great to watch some games with him. I covered his hospital wall with my favorite pictures, and once I overheard him telling a nurse how proud he was of my pictures, which I will never forget. I was able to show him my picture of John Bell published in Relix a few days before he died, which was beautiful.

Thanks for reading my story. Please contact me with ideas, suggestions, questions, requests, or for any photography needs, from family or pet portraits to pictures of your house to band pictures or even wedding pictures, i have done it all and I will not stop shooting until I get 'The shot'.
