The Brian Higgins Art Gallery houses approximately 50 pastels, all matted and custom-framed. Most are landscapes, but a few concentrate on one focal point. Brian and his wife Jane Edgington Higgins, who is also an accomplished artist and high school art teacher, welcome visitors upon request. There is no charge to view the paintings, but an appointment should be made in advance. The phone number and e-mail address are included on this site. Higgins, who has been painting with pastels for more than thirty years, has won a number of prestigious awards. An art dealer as well as an artist, his paintings have been juried into 70 major shows within the past ten years. One of his pastels, entitled 'Clearing,' was recently featured at the San Diego Art Institute. The piece, which was selected from a pool of 1518 from around the world, was one of only five that was honored with a cash prize. The exhibition began on April 29, 2007 and ran through June 11, 2007. Another one of Brian's pastels, 'Down Beach,' received the Createx Award in 2006 from the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts. Two of his paintings, 'Emergence' and 'Season Past, Season Present' are currently on display in Vernon, Texas at the Red River Valley Museum.
