Brigitte Roshay was born on the tropical island of Mauritius, spent her young adult life in the ‘City of lights’ (Paris) and now resides in the dynamic city of Dubai.
Ever since her childhood, she has been passionate about painting, being highly commended by the Royal Drawing Society of Great Britain while still living in Mauritius.
She suspended her artistic activities, however, to devote herself to the more urgent demands of her professional and personal life, getting married and raising a family.
Her passion for art and painting was never really very far away and about 10 years ago, her husband, having heard her say again and again that she wanted to paint, offered to her for her birthday an easel, a few canvas, brushes, paint, and with them, came a renaissance of interest and renewed activity which is now a full-time occupation.
Over the last few years, Brigitte has been taking painting courses at Dubai International Art Center (DIAC) where she met other painters. They have since formed a group, ArtIIgether, a group of 10 artists, who often paint and exhibit in and around Dubai.
Her favorite subjects? She is fascinated by everything she sees when travelling about the UAE – the colors, the people the culture …, she paints fondly subjects of her native Mauritius and France, her adopted country. She enjoys painting sceneries, scenes and people. She also paints Natures Mortes (‘still life’).
She loves to express emotions through her paintings. One of the comments she had from a person who bought one of her paintings is that “they are not only nice to look at, but also show emotions and sensibility”.
One particularity about herself: she is colorblind. That may be the reason why she likes so much colors.
