Cecilia Price - Fine Artist
Cecilia Antoinette Price is a watercolorist living in Beauregard, Alabama. Cecilia has been doing different art media most of her life. Almost no subject matter has been left out! At this time, she is focusing on florals in watercolor. She says that flowers have much to teach us, they are the most colorful thing in nature, they have such lovely and varied shapes. She also says 'No sun, no fun' about the subjects she photographs and paints. To achieve the glow she is famous for, the sun and a blue sky above are essential for the photograph to succeed as a subject for painting. Within the shadows is where she finds beautiful, vibrant color, caused by the warm light bounce from the ground, and by the reflection onto petals of the blue sky, as well as light bounce from surrounding colors. She carefully studies these colors and uses them to achieve a 3D effect. All of the work is pure watercolor, even the gold signature is watercolor and will melt back into liquid when wet.
Cecilia taught beginning watercolor for a decade through Auburn University's Outreach Program. She is the author of a book that evolved out of that experience, called
'Adventures in Beginning Watercolor', which she produces herself and markets on the internet. This book breaks down all the information that a beginner would need
to get a jump start in painting successful watercolors.
One of her paintings, 'Road to Glory', was chosen by American Frame as the featured painting for the month of March, 2007. The same painting has been chosen as a
CD cover. Her work has appeared on the cover of 'Alabama Living' magazine. She is a member of the American Society of Portrait Artists, as well as being a member of many online groups and sites.
