I start with a photo that makes me smile and then transform it into something that will be cherished for a lifetime. Using a snapshot or a photograph, I digitally 'paint' using a Wacom tablet and a stylus pen. Some are photo-realistic, while others are a bit more impressionistic.
Art has been part of my life since the day I could hold a crayon and scribble on paper. Always a creative and a technician, it was a natural fit for me to spend my life playing around with graphics on computers. Long before desktop computers I worked first as an electronic technician, then fell into typography and graphic design; creating visually pleasing communicative art. As a graphic designer, I've done everything from full-page ads to complete magazine spreads. Worked for major corporations and independent graphic firms. Fell into the digital graphics world of both vector and bitmap in its infancy and never looked back. I've been known as the CanDew lady since 1995. My love of technology keeps me going, keeps my thirst for knowledge of my craft quenched. Not too many years ago, I was able to release my pent-up passion for photography and painting. Favorite forms of photography are flowers, rodeo & macro because it's up close and personal.
NOTE: All of my images are created in an extremely high resolution and are available in larger sizes and the resolution will be perfect. Just contact me and I'll be happy to upload a larger file. Thank you for looking.
Photographers capturing the image right the first time are great technicians who know their camera. Digital artists are technicians who know their tools. Both are artists that create beautiful images. At CanDew we do commissioned art work from photographs for professional, amateur & novice photographers. 'Your photos become your art!' Tools of choice: the latest versions of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, Corel Painter, a Wacom Cintiq and a Wacom tablet. Digital painting has opened up a new artistic form of expression for me. All my paintings are digitally created and each pixel is 'painted.' Plug-ins cannot achieve the detail and depth that is in my artwork.
Long time member of NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals). My web site is candew.com.
Please excuse me if I don't respond back in the comments section. Being extremely rural, the best internet connection I have is mobile broadband. I do try to visit other galleries and enjoy the wide array of talent when I can.
