Che Hondo was born in Washington DC. He attended weekend & summer classes, as a youth, at Corcoran College of Art & Design studying drawing & pottery. He studied in the visual arts at Duke Ellington School of the Arts, in Washington DC and majored in visual design & communication, at Virginia State University. In his student career he has studied drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, pottery, print making, photography, 2-D concepts and design.
Che considers himself to be a self taught painter practicing mostly out side of school. At the age of 19, Che began taking commissions for portrait work in medias including graphite, color pencil, acrylic & oil. His art work has been exhibited in the Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum and is permanently displayed in the Superior Court of Washington DC. He is represented by the Attitude Exact Art Gallery in SE Washington DC, the Keys Gallery of Fort Washington MD, and his works are in private collections in the US.
