I took interest in art at an early age. I kept a sketchpad with me and often tested my skills by drafting sketches of symbols, cartoon characters, shoes, and cars. I enrolled in my first art class my sophomore year in high school, this is when I began learning techniques that would enhance my skill and flourish my works. During my sophomore year of high school I was introduced to the medium charcoal. I became so comfortable with this medium that I took first place in a citywide art competition the same year. As my passion for art grew over the years, I challenged myself to adapt medium by medium. My course work and studies at the University of Houston exposed me to diverse medias, taught me the significance of color palettes, painting techniques, and the concepts of design. In 2006 I graduated from the University of Houston with my bachelors degree in Communication: Media Production and minor in Studio Arts.
Up until 2008 my works had been minimal due to everyday activities that require majority of my time, home and work. I began creating art again after completing three abstract paintings for a friend and recognizing that I had not lost my gift . Defined Arts is a concept that I came up with after realizing that everyone has their own characteristics that signify them. I’ve practiced my technique, created my own style, and branded my work. My creative expansion has allowed me to become a very versatile artist. I feel like any artist can take a photo and create a portrait to look like the individual or subject matter but there is only one way to be DEFINED.
There are no specifics that really inspire my work, I feel as if you can get me any subject medium and I will interpret the characteristics based on my creative vision. However I enjoy doing facials, portraying current events, and building a message through my pieces of work. '. I also create abstract pieces, usually by special request to accent homes and places of business. Recently I've done a lot of pieces catered towards music, sports, and influential figures just because those are areas that interest me. The expressions of my work have somewhat a hip hop appeal and have been recognized by the music industry over the past year. I've had the opportunity to distribute my works to artist such as Slim Thug, Bun B, Drake, Monica, Fonzworth Bentley, and Lil Wayne. The piece I did for Slim Thug was featured recently in one of his latest music videos 'Miss Mary'.
As an artist, I take pride in my work because it allows me to show freedom of expression that others would never be able to identify in my non-shallot mannerisms. I enjoy being able to design, create, and illustrate what I feel so that others can gain a sense of understanding, memory, and DEFINED characteristics from my art. My goal is to build my gallery to share with the world and create unforgettable custom projects. I know that my ability to create DEFINED art is a God given talent. Although I neglected my talent many years HE continued to guide my everyday activities in the direction of art until I regained focus. I feel very, very blessed to have recognized the vision to pursue my talent and share with the world my editions of DEFINED arts.
