As an award winning photographer and poet I enjoy composing both visual and literary art. I strive to illustrate my writing with photographs, and, I'll write verse about a particular piece that I've captured on film.
I have juried into numerous shows in the past year and a half, and look forward to showcase my artistic abilities in as many venues as possible. I honed my photographic craft as a photojournalist for over fifteen years. As a youngster, I would take snap shots with my polaroid camera and turn a swamp into a work of art. An expensive camera is not what I need to record my artistic vision; what I use is my designer eye to capture the essence of the subject matter at hand. I enjoy taking pictures of nature, people, animals, inanimate objects, anything that catches my eye.
I find that being a photojournalist has enhanced my creative abilities as I am always on the lookout for something special to observe and record. It's hard sometimes to capture an event in a split second, but, that to me, is the best part of my creations. It's those shots that enhance my ability to turn something oridinary into something extraordinary.
I like to photograph expressions that will tell the story without the enhancement of a written word. I want my work to speak for itself whenever possible to include my audience in the picture.
I enjoy teaching others to discover the artist within. I've worked as a college professor, journalist, photographer, freelance writer, and now, I am a chapbook publisher, and book author. My book includes award winning poems and a smattering of photographs that are available for sale.
My credentials include two Associate of Science degrees, one from Madonna College, and another from Vincennes University, a Bachelor of Science degree, From Madonna University, and a Master's of Arts Degree from the University of Michigan.
