I am from California and have lived in Northern VIrginia for the past five years. I have been making art most of my life and paint and draw in most mediums. I have two bodies of work that I am currently working on. Drawing is the core of both. One is a series of abstracts that are smaller square pieces that work independently or together make a larger whole painting. These pieces are derived from feelings about the chaos of light, shape and color in the hectic human landscape of modern urban life. The second body of work is a series of mixed-media pieces that incorporate my drawings, journalings, words, found items and print media. They are socio-political in that I am nd express my feelings and opinions in a way that is embedded and therefore not immediately apparent. The words become patterns that meld into the painting as shape and tone, like background voices in a crowded room. The two bodies of work overlap in that they are both about feelings and drawing. The paintings are made to provide a medium for observation and commentary, and for drawing.
