My name is Chris Wilkes-Ciudad, I have been taking photographs in one form or another since the age of about 7, which was many years ago now. My first camera was a little box brownie on which I took my first steps into Black and White photography and from there I progressed to a Praktica 35mm and from there on to Canon AE1. I took many colour slides , most of which I still have, however after seeing the work of Ansell Adams while studying for an A Level in Photography I decided that I wanted to concentrate on Black and White Landscape . I purchased a roll film Mamiya 645s and spent many a cold wet day in North Wales chasing the elusive light with some reasonable results. After many years of developing and printing my own work, and achieving an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society and showing a small number of exhibitions I then moved, somewhat reluctantly, into digital and purchased a Nikon D70 which for a number of years I relegated mainly to holiday photos. In 2013 I again got the photographic bug and purchased a Nikon D5200 and have not looked back since.
I very much enjoy exploring all aspects of Photography and still have very much to learn and see but I still have a great love of Black and White Landscape which I pursue whenever I have the opportunity. There are so many outstanding photographers now, and with the age of the internet and the Smartphone we get to see far more variety than in the past. I do hope that you like some of my work and if you feel the urge to comment on any please feel free.
