My first camera was a Kodak Brownie that I purchased with a $5.00 bill that I found at the age of 12 (69 years ago, so no digital then).   My first black and white photos were of the Steinhardt Museum in San Francisco and later the Kon Tiki, Thor Heyerdahl's sailing raft.   Needless to say I was hooked.I joined the Air Force in 1960 and traveled throughout Asia.   Even after retiring from the Air Force I was still in and out of Asia and Hawaii.   My usual choice of 35 mm cameras was by Canon.   I've done some 4 X 5 macro photography for a friend's magazine and shot...more

Thailand

I was in and out of Thailand from 1964 to 2002. In the early days it was because of the war in Viet Nam so I had little time for much other than work. Later I would return for short periods of a few days to a couple of weeks. I was always impressed with the attitude and demeanor of the people. They were always smiling. What beautiful people, but a confusing culture that always left me wondering.
