Cydney operates Hot Glass Designs and Precious Metal Designs from her home studio in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Her works range from earrings and pendants to more functional objects like plates, bowls, vases and votives. Creating fused glass art is her passion. Its a fascinating technique that involves melting hand-cut glass pieces together at high temperatures in an electric kiln. Each piece is created individually for a truly unique design. Her latest enjoyment comes from designing jewelry with bronze and silver precious metal. This jewelry is handcrafted by the Artist using a revolutionary material called precious metal clay (or PMC). This art medium can be formed and manipulated like clay, but after firing in a kiln turns into pure Silver or Bronze resulting in a truly unique and one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry. True alchemy!

As an artist, Cydneys inspiration comes from many of the colors and forms that surround her in nature. Whether shes looking at a fern during a hike, or gazing out her studio window at the woods and shimmering creek beyond, shes always intrigued by the organic and abstract beauty of nature.

Cydney has been pursuing various arts and crafts mediums since she was a young child. With the discovery of fused glass and precious metal clay, she has found that perfect creative outlet. Creating objects with glass has been an incredible and uncontrollable pursuit, she remarks. It has become one the most important parts of what makes me who I am.
