Cyndi Bellerose-McAfee graduated from the Columbus College of Art and Design in 1985 with a BFA in Illustration. Her work has been exhibited in Columbus, Ohio at Waldo’s on High, Sean-Christopher Gallery and the Ohio Art League. Work has also been exhibited in New York at A.I.R. Gallery and the New York Society of Illustrators.
Ms. Bellerose-McAfee founded Studio 49 Design Studio in 1987 and co-founded Studio 49 Atmosphere Design with husband Lou McAfee in 2004.
The artist has been a part-time elementary art teacher since 2001 and has instructed many art workshops for participants of all ages for over 10 years.
Although Studio 49 and teaching keeps her busy, she follows her true passion; painting. In 2002, Ms. Bellerose-McAfee began her on-going body of work, “The Joan Series”. Inspired by the sorrow and anger following a failed marriage, paintings of “Joan” emerged as vintage advertisements, expressing the frustrations and fantasies of an abused woman in a wicked yet whimsical style.
