I have been a self-taught artist since I was about 5 years old. My interests are art and science. After a 40+ year career in science and engineering, I retired as a Chief Scientist for a major research company and am now able to devote my time to my art in my home studio. My mediums include: oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, and stained glass. I enjoy impressionism and western painting and have participated in several watercolor and pastel painting workshops. A series of paintings is underway of old mine buildings and other western scenes; and, scenes from Europe - look for them in the near future.
Up until retirement I painted for family and friends, and I have sold several commissions both in the US and England.
My education background includes: a Bachelor of Science in Physics degree from the University of Washington in Seattle, and a PhD degree in Engineering and Applied Science from the University of Southampton's Institute of Sound and Vibration Research, Southampton, England.
