Since I have been in Texas for nearly 20 years, I now consider myself a Texan, but I was born and raised in South Africa and I moved to the US in 1990.
I have been drawing since the age of 4. During high school I took art and learned to paint. Then I went to college and became a computer programmer. I sure did that for much too long! In 2009, I decided to quit my job to be a full-time artist. Since then I have completed more than 30 paintings. I am influenced by other artists such as Van Gogh and Kandinsky. Some of my more analytical work is probably the result of my interest in science and mathematics. Most of my work that is ready for sale can be viewed and purchased at my website, DannyHouse.com. I live in Keller, Texas, and that is where my business is. You can reach me at (817) 366-6261 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I have painted in acrylic and in oil, but during the last few months I have been learning how to make screen prints. For the screen prints I make a digital design, so that I can use the digital images to prepare stencil masks. Most of my work is either slightly abstract or quite a lot abstract. Usually I start with a simple sketch. This helps with composition and sometimes I add a little color to see what might work. I like to play with words, so I think of a title before I start painting. The words influence my thoughts and what I wish to express with my art. While some of my art is intuitive, sometimes I enjoy being analytical and then I prepare an elaborate and intentional 'design'.
