About Danielle Perry

Art and the Sea have always been Danielle Perry’s passions. Her desire to paint started at a very young age and much of her free time was spent exploring nature and the coastal shores of the St. Lawrence river.

Trained as a graphic designer in Montreal, Canada she worked 8 yrs as designer, illustrator and creative director for Trudeau, a Canadian manufacturer and distributor of tableware. She was considered the hallmark of the company and her dinnerware designs were acclaimed and sold worldwide.

In 1998, the Quebec City native followed her life long dream of living a tropical lifestyle and relocated to South Florida. Living in the yacht capital of the world “Fort Lauderdale” landed her in the yacht industry as crew where she eventually worked her way up the nautical ladder. She has been applying her creative skills as freelance yacht chef for the rich and famous for the past 15 yrs. A cross Atlantic voyage on a 150” expedition yacht from Florida to Italy and working as chef for Nathaniel and Lady Rothschild on a beautiful 103’ Wally sailboat in Greece are some of the highlights of her yacht career. While Perry enjoys the creativity of cooking , it’s travel and painting that really floats her boat.

Working on yachts have allowed her to explore the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Bahamas, New England several times onboard the most beautiful yachts. Her extensive portfolio draws most of it’s inspiration from countless travels to Italy and the Bahamas, especially the wild and secluded islands of the Exumas. Her extensive scuba-diving adventures have also been a great source of inspiration for her paintings. Tropical surroundings inform her canvases with serene blues, watery reflections, pink sand beaches, above and below bountiful reef views, secret beach paths, graceful breezy palms.

Perry has been a self taught fine artist since 2008. Her paintings are inspired by her travel photos and she paints between her chef contracts in her Florida studio. She also started oil painting plein air in 2016. Her style is representational and impressionistic with an incredible eye for detail. However, she also excels in stylized contemporary creations. Notably, her mesmerizing water reflections, vintage plaster marine art and mosaic paintings which are always a huge hit. Her preferred mediums are oil and acrylic and she paints on canvas, acrylic, panel, plaster, driftwood, serving trays, lazy Susan’s, lobster trap wood…

Many of Perry’s paintings have been featured on the cover of Hobe Sound, Jupiter and Tequesta magazines as well as having been published in Dockwalk , Tempus and Florida Home Decor magazines. She has been doing art shows since 2010 and her art has helped raise funds for several coastal and reef conservation organizations.

“Nature is beautiful and life is short. I want to capture as much of it on canvas as I possibly can. While I paint, I think of the places I’ve been, the memories of secluded limitless horizons, colorful and bountiful reefs and of course my love of everything nautical and coastal. Painting to me is therapeutic, liberating and relaxing. It fills me with a sense of self worth and confidence. When I finish a successful painting, I feel a great sense of accomplishment. I am honored that my numerous fans and art collectors support my quest to perfect my skills and do what I love. My outmost respect for nature transpires through my paintings and I hope that my art might help make a difference in this world through conservation efforts.”
