I am an artist with many interests but nature, wildlife and horses are my preferred subjects. My work tends to focus on details and expression. Getting back to my creative art took many years, being detoured by the demands of life and a 'responsible' career. I find wonder and light in the little things, like dew on a leaf or a feather on the beach. I work in watercolour, acrylic, pastel, graphite, pen & ink, and coloured pencils. I am also an avid photographer. My photography allows me to work from my own reference material while adding focus to the beauty of nature all around us.
Interested in art since childhood, I attended both University and College to study fine art and illustration. I've had a career in Graphic Design and Print Production since 1994 while pursuing fine art after the 9-to-5 grind.
I spent nearly 8 years living in Southern California as a Graphic Designer. I now live in Truro, Nova Scotia with my husband after moving back to Canada in 2010. I started my own design & art business, Creative Watters Art & Design (www.creativewatters.com). Though enjoying the exploration of my art, I still provide clients with graphic design. The difference is that I now have the freedom to give someone that special portrait in traditionally painted/drawn artwork.
I don't think it's ever too late to follow your dreams or revisit the freedom and creativity we had when young. I hope to garner something special from each project I pursue. Through play and exploration there is always room to learn.
