I was born in the urban setting of Bridgeport, CT ... Connecticut's biggest city in 1964. The grandchild of Scottish, English & Irish immigrants, my family had seen many hard times in the old countries. They brought with them great work ethic & came to America with many hopes & dreams. My father followed in his father's footsteps & became a toolmaker, but also inherited great artistic talent. He painted & did portraits, but never considered a career in art, since he worked 60-70 hours a week to provide for the family.
I never actually painted until high school & never really developed, as I was more intrigued by playing drums, chasing girls & having a good time. I'd design fliers for my band & dreamed of one day making it to the big time. I was playing clubs at 17 & continued chasing my dream until just a few years ago. During that time, I became a mechanical draftsman, got married to a beautiful woman & became a father.
In 2001, I was working as a sunroom designer for a company whose owner was this energetic old Jewish man of 81 years .... an art collector. Reporting to that office, plastered with original art from all over the world, was inspiration for me to start my career as a full-time artist.
I am a big fan of minimalism where less is more. Use of negative space, subdued backgrounds & contrasting colors can be seen in my abstracts. In my figurative drawings & paintings I am free to express myself through the purest form of art.
I am currently painting in oils & acrylics and drawing using pen & ink. Just recently I've been creating art with other materials incuding polymer clay, PVC & metal. Painting & drawing have provided me with an outlet for my artistic talents, but my desire to really make a major impact on people has led me to 3D art. I created a small polymer clay sculpture for a 2010 show & received excellent feedback. In the coming years, I look to create artworks that will excite, stimulate & tantalize; that will explode & leave it's visual shrapnel embedded in the viewers' mind .
