My journey through the art world has relatively recent and humble beginnings. Un like many people who were drawing since they could first hold a pencil, I did not take up art in any form until about three years ago. It was at that point that I realized my eight year old daughter (who incidentally has been drawing since she could first hold a pencil) was a better artist than me. Now, it is my hope that all of my kids will ultimately be better than me at whatever they choose to do with their lives, but I have to admit that I didn’t think they would be better than me at the tender age of eight. So three years ago I decided that my New Year’s resolution would be to “not be an embarrassment to the art world.” Little did I realize that what began with such a simple goal would evolve to where I am today. You see, I soon realized that drawing and creating was incredibly relaxing and fun.
I grew up in the mountains in New Mexico and Colorado and currently live in Montrose, which is on the western slope of Colorado. Much of my inspiration for what I draw comes from my time spent in the beauty of the outdoors here in the western United States. I mainly specialize in pencil, oil pastel and colored pencil. I also tend to take a lot of photos, although mainly I take the photos so that I have stuff to draw from later. I intend to teach myself how to paint this year, but at least for the moment I find myself mesmerized by the vibrancy and beauty of oil pastels. Thank you for visiting my site and I hope you enjoy looking at my pictures.
