Working in most type of medium from; pencil, pastel, to watercolour, acrylic, oil and even some airbrushing, Dwayne enjoys the act of creation. From the designing and making signs and logos, creating caricatures and cartoons, decorating windows for special events, teaching classes, consulting on colour schemes for commercial and residential buildings, to working with other artists on projects, such as with Ken Sheen a power and chainsaw carver/ sculptor. However, it is working on commissioned paintings and tackling large-scale interior and exterior murals, which is his true passion.
Using a type of impressionistic style of realism, Dwayne seeks to involve the viewer both visually as well as emotionally to the subject matter. The theme, setting, pallet, and subject all have to marry up and feed off each other to work as a final painting. The composition sets the stage to fulfill the subject’s expression. If all comes together, the final work becomes sweet visual music with a song that touches the heart. That is the difference between good and great art; the “holy grail” that Dwayne strives to attain.
