I paint realistic colorful scenes in oils on location, to learn from nature. Bold colors, strong shapes, dramatic lighting draw me to a subject, usually a landscape, sometimes something else. I paint in water-soluble oils (just as durable, but less toxic) in my studio from my own photo references and on-location studies. I've studied with many instructors through the years, and put in my time at the easel indoors and out. I've taught students to paint and learn how to see through Art Appreciation classes.
