Deborah Voyda Rogers mediums of choice are Pastel, watercolor, and encaustic. Her favorite subjects are animals, with a concentration on horses and dogs. She is an avid horsewoman with a record of significant achievements, which explains her passion for horses. Painting subjects that have an inner meaning and a connection are what truly inspire her. Bold color, shapes and a knowledge of her subject matter are Deborah's way of conveying movement and emotion. Her paintings have a realistic quality with an element of abstraction, leaving something to the imagination of the viewer. Deborah has taught adult watercolor, drawing and pastel classes. She is also a workshop and trade show instructor. In December of 2009 Deborah taught 5th through 7th graders pastel at the Science Museum of Minnesota. Deborah was co-owner of Avalon Arts a teaching studio and gallery in White Bear Lake MN. Avalon Arts was part of the White Bear Lake art community for 18 years. Deborah is an award winning artist. Her most recent award is from the Lake Country Pastel Society for the painting 'Weisman Museum.' Deborah has been commissioned by the state of Minnesota to do a commemorative piece for the Minnesota State Fair which will be unveiled in June 9, 2010. Her paintings are in collections in England, Russia, Japan and the United States.
