The art of Debra Jones is varied and prolific. Having studied art at the Rocky Mountain School of Art in Denver Colorado, she worked as a commercial artist for 8 years before giving up art completely. After a long absence, she is a productive portrait artist in Scottsdale Arizona.

Her work is available to all collectors in all income ranges. Portraits hang in the Phoenix Metro area on public and private walls. The joy of painting the soul of her sitter or 'ANYTHING WITH EYEBALLS' as she says, has made her pet and animal portraits equally in demand. Windows to the soul are the key to her very expressive and realistic portrayals.

Recently her skills have turned more equine from fox hunting and hounds to the American Southwest, featuring Mounted Cowgirl Shooters and Pony Express riders. She is an associate member of Women Artists of the West and shows in the prestigious Mountain Oyster Western Art Collectors show in Tucson AZ and Charlottesville Virginia.

Figurative and wildlife are the subjects of her non-portrait works. From working with the zookeepers in the Phoenix Zoo to being in demand with many of the animal charities in the region. As the official artist of the French Brittany Gun Dog Club (l'Epagneul Breton) of the US as well as providing her portraits as prizes for AKC and UKC trophy prizes, she is known and hangs all over the country.

In her choice of media, there is something for literally everyone. She (as of today) is not offering sculpture. BUT her training and personal exploration has made her knowledgeable in oil, watercolor, pastel, charcoal, pen and ink, colored pencil and the little used silver and copper point. She has studied with some of the nation's premier educators such as Sally Strand, Paul Leville, Ted Nuttall, Chris Saper and Milt Kobayashi as well as learning forensic reconstructive drawing from renowned professional Karen Taylor.

As a competitor, she has been a prize winner in the Richeson 75 Portraits show, shown in the Pastel Society of America, National Watercolor Society, Seattle Pastel Society. She participated in the 'Faces of the Fallen' exhibition in Arlington National Cemetery and shows in Denver, St. Louis, Mobile, New York as well as all of metropolitan Phoenix. As a finalist in the Artist Magazine and First Place in Watercolor and Pastel in the Arizona State Fair as well as many local shows, she has proven chops as a national presence.

Debra Jones joined Fine Art America on September 27th, 2008.
