I've been in love with photography since I could hold a picture book. Frozen moments in time can tell us a lot about Life. Born in Germany, raised all over the United States and now settled in the beautiful, magical light of the Mojave Desert, I am embarking on my dream of expressing the beauty in my world through pictures and words.
My photographs are minimally processed. In fact, I don't even own Photoshop. I prefer capturing 'straight up' images with minimal cropping or light/color correction if necessary, preferring to use natural light, the knowledge of my tools, and paying attention to the perspective presented before me.
My training and experiences include many workshops beginning in film photography and dark room development under the tutelage of Andrew Shumaker, a former student of Ansel Adams, to current trends from online workshops. I also frequently attend hands-on workshops with photographers whose works I admire. I am always seeking to learn and grow in the magical field of photography.
Photography has taught me to 'see' while staying in the present moment. I capture lifestyle, the intricacy of the every day, in people, nature, the objects around us. In addition to fine art prints, I also create my images on fabric and wood using the sun and special development paint to impose my images from negatives. If you see an image you like in my galleries, contact me for ways to get them on silks and cotton scarves, shirts, wood framed blocks, or unique bags. The camera is simply my paintbrush...
