Having studied with noted artists since childhood and having painted in oils for nearly three decades, Dianne is dedicated to her craft. She specializes in painting from life and has created what she calls the Romantic Portrait, a venue that gives validity to the dreams of her clients. Her style is continually evolving to unite a classical technique with an impressionistic touch.
Dianne Gardner specializes in figurative, portraiture and plein air painting. Her series include Western themes, Equine, Civil War paintings from re-enactments, and landscapes. She is currently active in Oil Painters of America, the Plein Air Washington Association, Portrait Society of America, Landscape Painters of America, The South Kitsap Artist Association, and the Peninsula Art League. Atwork Artwork, Earth Artisans Gallery, and The Sidney Gallery.
Dianne's clients are both National and International, having created a portrait for the great grandson of J.R.R. Tolkein and New Zealand actor Bruce Hopkins. She has also done cover art for musician James Johnson and a series of wine labels for Bainbridge Island winery Perennial Vintners and prints of her work are on display at Hotel Vintage Park in Seattle, WA. She has commissioned works in the homes of clients from Arizona, California and Washington to Russian Siberia, Honduras, and the United Kingdom.
Her formal art education includes study with Master Sculptor John Henry Waddell, a prominent artist in Arizona whose work has been noted worldwide. She has also had private lessons with Roxanne Betu, a wildlife artist, and in her childhood was privately instructed by a noted artist named Betka from Malibu California. Recently she completed workshops with well-known artists including Jane Wallis and renown impressionist portrait and plein air painter Ned Mueller, Richard Humphrey and Diane McClary. She teaches oil painting in her studio in Olalla.
