I live in the beautiful Ozark mountains overlooking Table Rock Lake in Hollister, MO. I began painting about 8 years ago when introduced to oil painting while taking a course from a local instructor. Soon after, I decided I liked to paint in watercolors and began learning all I could about the media. I now enjoy painting abstracts, flowers, and landscapes in acrylic and watercolor. I haven't had any professional training nor have I ever taken a workshop other than the oil painting class. I refer to art books and have purchased a couple DVD's to learn from other artists. I give my paintings away to family and friends and hang many of them in our home. I have sold only a few of my art pieces. I consider myself a hobbyist who loves to create art in many different ways. I love to experiment with different processes and techniques. My favorite colors are orange and yellow and incorporate these colors in most of my art. My art studio is in my home and I get natural light through our large front window. I am 67 years old and live with my husband Jim and two cats Murphy and Punkin. I enjoy boating, fishing, slalom skiing, swimming, hiking, and writing poetry and fiction. I have two children; Bryon Elkins and Holly Elkins, and three step children; Spiff, Joe, and Julie. I was born in Ohio but lived in KY for many years, Philadelphia for 8 years, and now in MO. I have three brothers, Jim, Bill, and David. My mother is 89 and lives in KY. She is the true artist in the family but no longer draws. I will continue to paint as long as I am able.
