Donna Wilson - Fine Artist
...So--about me. I live and work in St. Augustine, Fl. for which I am very grateful as I am very close to the sea. The sea is a great source of inspiration for me as well as a balm for my soul. I love color, and texture, and patterns, and especially the feel of paint. Then I discovered pastels--another medium I could get my hands into-literally. There's something about the feel of my hands, with or without a brush, moving color around that truly satisfies me. I use a lot of vivid colors and drama in my work. I love to experiment with varied materials and color combinations. I have been painting for over 20 years.
I found a niche with the mermaids. They are each one of a kind and I have a lot of fun experimenting with different materials on them. The possibilities with them are endless. In the last year, I have sold 120 of them. I make up their names after they are finished, and my husband make up the little stories for each one. I have created several themes, including the Navaho image of the talking god, the St. Augustine lighthouse, pirates, fish, turtles, shells, and even a dolphin rider who wears leathers and chains.
I hope you enjoy looking at my work as much as I enjoyed creating it. Thanks.
