Dorothy grew up in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She and her husband Hal and children moved to Oregon in 1968. They have lived in Washington County since then and are now grandparents and great grandparents.
Dorothy was a stay-at-home mom until 1986 when she became a Realtor. She worked for 23 years helping people with their real estate needs and then retired in 2009.
She had always wanted to paint, but life was to busy with work and raising a family. In 2008 she decided it was time to begin.
She loves to paint and finds it an exciting challenge to turn a canvas into a realistic portrayal of landscape, seascape and still live using either oil or acrylic paint.
Dorothy uses the photographs she and her husband take on their travels as subject matter, and they travel a lot. She believes art is meant to be enjoyed, not only by the artist but also by the person viewing it. She says it is a means of pure emotional expression. Therefore, in sharing her work with you, she hopes you will also find it enjoyable.
