Edith is involved in art because it has always been a part of her life. When growing up in Europe and during her professional life she always found herself studying art. First formally in a German school learning how to blend colors and later in America with David Porter and Linda Salomon
She was first taken by the beautiful landscapes of Germany and later after viewing sunsets and sunrises while sailing for a year in the Caribbean. She spent four an a half months in Venezuela and while there hiked in the Andes. The mountains with all there splendor and different colors have found there way onto her pallet.
Her time is now split between her homes in Flagler Beach Florida and East Hampton Long Island. She finds the light in both areas very conducive to painting. Her unique way of blending colors and forming her texture is accomplished by using sponges, paper, cloth and brushes. Layers are added and removed so the canvas has a three dimensional effect.
While varying the application of paint, she is a true colorist. She transfers shapes into compositions of color, harmony and rhythm. She creates a texture of color splashes that reflect and echo each other, using thick and thin lines for balance. Her paintings have a sense of lyricism and exuberance. Often described as mystical and magical.
Retiring early so she could live her dream. “ I found thru painting I could express myself in ways I never thought possible. Everyone of my paintings comes from my soul and my inner thoughts. There are times I feel a power within myself is guiding me even thought I am applying the paint. Sometimes I get lost in the painting and the act of painting itself takes over and time doesn’t exist.” Yoga and meditation are part of her daily life and thru them she gets energy and inspiration to paint.
Her paintings hang all over the world and can be seen in Performing Art Center, Museum, Commercial Establishments, Private Collections and Galleries.
