About Edward Williams

Edward Williams graduated with a Bachelors Degree of Fine Art from
Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore,MD.
He has successfully run his own decorative painting and mural business since 1987.
He has won several awards for his work, has been nationally published and received Baltimore’s Best Decorative Artist by Baltimore Magazine.
Edward annually volunteers his mural services to a non-profit project.
Edward has always had a passion to paint and draw, he enjoys the meditative challenge of capturing a composition with expression.

"As a friend of mine told me, I was born an artist the way some people are born with a beauty mark. It's just a given," said Williams, sitting on a sofa in his living room, surrounded by his colorful paintings that line the walls of his home in the Paradise neighborhood of Catonsville. "As a little kid, I always drew," he said. "When I was in middle school, I took private art lessons from an artist in my neighborhood on Saturday mornings, and that's when I really started learning to draw from the figure." Ellicott City Paint It

The French expression en plein air means "in the open air." For painters, it means setting up shop outside and committing scenes and landscapes to canvas. Ellicott City "Paint It" is a celebration of plein air painting techniques. Sponsored by the Howard County Center for the Arts, it gives local artists a chance to come together to paint scenes from historic Ellicott City and compete for a juried grand prize. During the last weekend in August, local artists in set up along Main Street and painted late summer scenes. Ellicott City Paint Out

Catonsville, MD - August 27th, 2010

During the weekend of August 27-30,artists will take to the streets of Historic Ellicott City to participate in the plein air paint-out, Paint It! Ellicott City. En plein air, meaning “in the open air,” is the technique of painting outdoors, directly from life, without the aid of photography. Often, groups of plein air artists will gather within stated boundaries of a scenic area for what is called a “paint-out.” The Howard County Center for the Arts, Howard County Tourism, and Howard County Public Schools are presenting a paint-out weekend culminating in an exhibit at the Howard County Center for the Arts.
