I have been creating artwork most of my life, becoming professional in the last 10 years. I work primarily in oils and pastels, although I 'play' with other mediums such as printmaking, photography, and mix-media. I favorite subjects include landscapes and equine art. No matter what my subject matter, the most interesting thing to me is the use of light to make each painting have a message. I paint what moves me, and want to create the thoughts and emotions connected with my subject. I enjoy creating work which has meaning on multiple layers, from the title to the actual subject matter. I also accept commissions for most subjects, from pets, horses and landscapes.
I am a member of several arts organizations, locally, regionally and nationally. I am an Associate Member of the following organizations: American Academy of Equine Art, American Association of Women Artists and the American Pastel Society. I am a Full Member of the Maryland Pastel Society, the Equine Artist Guild, Central Shenandoah Arts, the Beverly Street Studio School, and the OASIS Gallery. I have work in several galleries, and have had several solo shows.
I have studied under a variety of internationally known artists: Rosemary Sarah Welch, Sam Savitt, Booth Malone, Carol Peek, Diane Tesler, Rick Weaver, Frank Hobbs, and Christine Drake.
