About Elizabeth j White
I am Elizabeth J. White
I was born in Sumter SC on Shaw Air Force Base September 15 1961 to Johnny and Carolyn Norwood.
I am the middle of three children. I have always been a artist, I feel it is ingrained into my soul .
If I had to pin point a time when I started on a art project or just when it all began, I only have one place
in time that sticks out in my mind.
We were a military family and traveling was a way of life in those days. This one time we was
going on another long trip, so my dad allowed the three of us children to choose a activity for the long road ahead
at that time he said it was to keep us busy( Now time has passed and I've raised children of my own and no the real
reason , was to keep us kid from driving them crazy with the stop- touching me's and the -we there yets?)
My brother chose a magnetic chess set, little sis , her dolly was enough, as always though , for me was something
to write with and on and that was all I needed, it was the spark that ignited a fire in me that no amount of water
could put out, and the passion for art has become stronger and the flame of my love affair with art , is like
the tall, tall pines that grow in the mountains. There became no stopping me. Every opportunity I had to draw
or create I did and now I am 51 years old , Art isn't a extention of me it is all that I am and without it , I can
truly say , I would not be here.
My early inspirations in art was, one, my cousin who never knew sitting on a porch stoop with a wet behined
the ears little kid, and doodling would mean years, years, and years later. I still remember Wanda teaching
me to draw a girl with the letter u, a upside down triangle, and a hourglass, she may have forgotten all about that.
But as that little child, I never have. the second along the road of art was my Uncle Ron, what can I say about
the artist I so looked up to as a child and still do today. My uncle is now a retired commercial artist and is the
only one I remember from my childhood that made a living from their art, I have so much respect for him and admire
him greatly. He gave me tips on how to draw a horse. He probably never gave it a second thought but it meant
the world to this shy little kid. I still have the horse I painted in 1971 I was 10 I keep it in my portfolio book
to show art from my early years. More of my Inspirations are Norman Rockwell that goes without say'n
then the late , great, painter of Lights Thomas K. When he passed I decided to do a series to honor him
and his legacy, I call these six works lights out each have their individual names as well.
there are no street lights mainly natural lights from darker skies.
I am attempting late in life to share my work with everyone and hope
with beholders you have a great take a way with my art.
One thing to always look for in my art is the cross some or easy and some or hard to find
and some even I have forgot where I put them I do so many, but at least on cross is in all my
work. So that's me in a nut shell, I will ad my art is also about My God, My Family, My Country
I am the mother of Two Grown Sons, and the Granny to only one light of my life, grand-daughter
my Little Cadie Bell I live in Easley S.C.
