Hi, I am Elma Orr.

All my creative works are registered at NFATR - National Fine Art Title Registry. My paintings are one of a kind originals. I really prefer selling originals rather than prints. I'll provide Certificates of Authenticity for all my registered arts. That document shows the art details and can be used for insurance.

Most of my artworks are available for purchase at Main Street Antiques Gallery, Downtown Grenada, MS, as it is my permanent Gallery.
I also display my works in other places in Grenada, such as Orleans Bistro (on Main Street ), at the Economic Development Department (on First Street) and at the Water Department (on Main Street).
I have been also represented by Galleries such as Gallery Point Leflore and Beard & Riser both in Greenwood, MS, The Old Round Table Restaurant in Oxford, MS, and Bozart Gallery in Water Valley, MS, and more recently the Artist's Alley Gallery in San Francisco, CA (www.Galiara.com) .

I am a self-taught artist. I have been painting in oils and acrylics for a long time. I have a passion for painting. Much of my art features my feelings of the moment. In my abstracts I use acrylics and oil, and try to combine the planned with the unexpected. During the process of creation, I usually go through underpainting and add many layers to bring beauty and harmony into the chaos. For me it's essential to show something dynamic, beautiful and inviting. So when viewers look at my work, they can find a personal meaning in the painting and relate to it in their own. It has been such an incredible experience to be a witness on my own creation. As I move paint around the blank canvas, I think of what surrounds me, the sun touching the morning dew, the sweet voice of my little one. My mind travels everywhere, my past, present and future.
Born in Brazil in 1961, I first became aware that I wanted to become an artist at 13 years of age. I used to draw a lot of landscapes with water and skies when I was kid. Those were my dreams, my imaginary places and refuges. Now, adding skies and clouds in my abstracts makes rediscover myself and realize those dreams are an actual part of who I am today. As far as my skills, I did attend to some private classes in the past. It helped me a lot taking my works to a new level. I also can do portraits, still life and landscapes. Normally, my subject matter deals with my memories or whatever is going on in my life. Art has truly been a passion in my heart, no matter if I am a good artist or not. I have been true to myself and I want to share that joy with you.
