Emiliano Campobello - Fine Artist
Emiliano Campobello (born Emiliano Campbell) is a Mexican-American artist based in Santa Barbara, CA. The artist's path called to him as a child, and as he listened, it led him to study art intensely and continue to major in Art Studio at the University of California at Santa Barbara (B.A. ~ cum laude). For his final year at U.C.S.B., he was an Education Abroad Program exchange student in Venice, Italy, studying Art History and 'La Divina Comedia' by Dante Alighieri respectfully at the Universities of Venice and Padua, and Marble Sculpture with his 'maestro', sculptor Francesco Grazioli, through the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice. He remained in Europe for the next 11 years, relocating in The Netherlands where he developed his painting techniques and created a career as a professional muralist/decorative painter, working as art/creative director, and painting theater backdrops for the National Theater of The Netherlands. There he formed 'Nest Design' with his partner, American artist Mary Johnson, and together they painted wonderous spaces for Amsterdam Children's Hospital, casinos & clubs, restaurants & residences, and executing projects for the Institute of Restoration & Decoration.
Feeling the pull of his homeland, the 4th generation Californian returned to his hometown of Santa Barbara where as 'Nest Design' they continued creating beautiful murals and harmonious spaces for resorts (The Coral Casino & The Montecito Country Club), spas, pediatricians offices, clinics, and of course, beautiful California homes. His work shows a stylistic & thematic flexibility developed through years of working on a vast variety of projects, while always embedding them with his own unique flavor. Emiliano is constantly inspired by the organic flow of nature, and creates harmonious compositions engaging the full color spectrum while retaining an earthy quality. He combines his sculptural love of form and light with a passion for the brushstroke. His work comes from a place of loving creation and is meant to engage and bring peace to all who encounter it.
