Ernesto Coelho Silva participated, until now, in more than 40 individual and collective exhibitions, in Portugal and abroad.
In December 2006 he was distinguished as “artist of the month” by “Digital Consciousness”. In the same year he wrote some notes as Cultural Reporter.
He attended a “Design Course” and other one for “Financing for Cultural Projects through Sponsorship and Patronage”.
Several media reports were done about his work and he is also noted in art books, both in a National and International level.
In the beginning of 2009, he assumed the role of Vice President from ARTISET - Association of Plastic Artists in Setubal.
He projected and published the art book “Mitos da Arte – Antologia de Antologia de Pintores Portugueses Contemporâneos” (Art Myths - Anthology of Portuguese Contemporary Painters, launched in July 2009, in Museu Colecção Berardo.
This book emerged with the aim of honor and distinguish numerous Portuguese artists of great merit, including well-known and emerging names, promoting simultaneously the quality of the national contemporary painting.
Ernesto Coelho Silva was jury of the Art Competition Utopia Premium - Núcleo Português de Arte Fantástica - in 2010.
Since then, he is linked to several art groups and is being invited as art exhibitions curator.
“Ernesto Coelho Silva is one of the Portuguese artists that is now emerging in the cultural scene. His works follow a free style, collaterally to the spontaneity of his mind. Transcendent to exterior appearances, they express themselves as a starting point to the application of a thought, the reasoning awakening , or in a mental creation process, the leading role of a story.
His main aim is to adorn naked walls, to make more sublime all that he desires and that the intelligence of Man can cover. He gives a little bit of himself to each work and finally, be everywhere.
According to Ernesto, “in each painting, in each paint tear, in each fallen drop, is the chimera of my thought, the interpretation of my feelings, the deepest inner of my being. It´s in the isolation of my atelier that I find the conciliation between myself and the inner peace.”
For this painter, art may not have a beginning neither an end, but instead an intellectual development in each observer, able to cause different reactions, judgments and feelings”.
