I began painting in 1997 with a wonderful teacher and a group that became fast friends. I worked only in acrylics for many years. In the last 8 years, I have begun to paint in more mediums, especially colored pencil, but also watercolor, some oils, india inks and pen and ink and watercolor batiks. Variety is the spice and practice is the method to continually keep the pleasure in painting. Colored pencils have a very meditative quality about them that is soothing and at points,while working on the piece, do not require conscious thought. I have been a member of two painting guilds and Decorative Painters national guild for many years. I keep current with different methods by subscribing to magazines, a library of books and meeting with 4 fellow artists weekly.
