Drawing since the age of three, Frances took art classes throughout high school and attended Parsons School of Design in New York City for a year. She later worked in Singapore and Taiwan as a freelance illustrator and political cartoonist, but her desire to paint eventually led her to Maui, Hawaii.
Frances began doing watercolors in 1998, taking a year off by moving to Maui. It surprised her how much more difficult it was compared to oils and acrylics.
Watercolor's challenges taught her important lessons about painting and life: to let go of control, be open to surprises, and appreciate the magic moment. And only by experimenting and pushing the envelope is she able to discover a technique on her own.
By allowing her inner flow of creativity to guide her, painting always feels fresh and exciting. Please enjoy.
