After years of working as a graphic designer, I am retired and am doing what I love to do, using my talents to help animal rescue groups. My heart has always been with animals and I have always been a mom to my rescue dogs and couldn't live without them. So I started doing custom pet portraits as well as elephants (yes, elephants!) and am broadening my animal repertoire with colorful zebras and much in the works.
I want so much to help animals that I have donated paintings to a number of animal rescue groups for their fundraisers: San Francisco SPCA, In Defense of Animals, Happy Tails (Sacramento, CA), Tri-Valley Animal Rescue (Pleasanton, CA), Best Friends Animal Society Lint Roller Party in Los Angeles (org headquarters in Kanab, UT), Churchill Animal Protection Society (Fallon, NV), Hopalong & Second Chance Animal Rescue (Berkeley, CA), Guide Dogs for the Blind, Napa Humane (Napa, CA), Operation Doggie Drop (Los Angeles, CA, for Katrina doggies), and last but certainly not least, the Performing Animal Welfare Society (Galt and San Andreas, CA). My orangutan painting bought 2 1/2 acres of orangutan habitat in Borneo for the Orangutan Foundation International. I also did a gorilla painting for a fundraiser for a friend who worked with the Batwa pygmies in Uganda. He has since returned to the US.
I have done paintings of a couple of the Performing Animal Welfare Society's elephants for their fundraisers. My heart breaks with the horror stories of the grim existence elephants endure in circuses and most zoos (don't get me started!) and if finally freed to go to a sanctuary, these wonderful folks give them the opportunity to just be elephants and roam together on hundreds of acres of open land. I am so glad that I can use my talent to help out this incredible organization.
My education: three years at Chouinard Art Institute where I studied design, drawing, and painting. I also took several illustration classes at the Academy of Art in San Francisco where I fell in love with watercolor.
Thank you for visiting my site! I hope you enjoy my work.
