George Guarino... I am a hypnotist by profession and an artist by nature.
Graduated from the State University at Albany, NY in 1981 after having attended State University at New Paltz for the bulk of my college career.
My concentration was in fine art photography, always interested in photo manipulation inspired by Jerry Ulseman. Never quite found my images or firmed up what I wanted to say with my images... so I let it sit for a long while as I got involved with area bands, video production, music magazine publishing, DJing.
I became a certified clinical hypnotist in 2005 and in 2011 went to California to study with a master hypnotist who presented a model of the mind that captured my imagination as the catalyst for art pieces. I knew what I had to do.
The division of space is a triptych. Each of my pictures is a mind. The left-side represents the conscious mind, where lists and goals are decided upon. The center is the subconscious mind; beliefs, habits, patterns. The right-side represents the unconscious mind; body functions that work automatically like the heart beating, blood flow, nerves. Each piece is a mind. A whole being.
To be a very good viewer of the picture… follow my instructions. 1. Focus on a point in the picture. 2. Take in a slow deep breath and hold it for the count of three. 3. As you exhale, allow your eyes to close for a while… you are learning… and feel good.
