After serving twenty years in the Navy as a hospital corpsman and retiring as a Navy nurse, I began searching for something entirely different from the medical field. I found it in painting about sixteen years ago. Many of my paintings come from family photos from being raised in the Air Force and living in and visiting several countries. I feel fortunate to not only have lived in other cultures but now I have a treasure trove of subjects to paint from and which carry special meaning for me. Last spring I was fortunate enough to visit Italy for almost a month and I have a wonderful collection of photos and memories to paint from. And three years ago we moved to the country so much of my work is from the surrounding countryside with its charming old houses and barns. I'm also blessed to have taken advantage of an opportunity to co-own a fine art gallery in Macon GA and am delighted that we are in our seventh year of business and are doing well.
