I was born in Pennsylvania where I lived most of my life except for a short period of time when we moved to my mother's home state of Georgia. In 1998, my husband, Steve, and I moved to the panhandle portion of Idaho and now call this scenic area our home.
I am thankful for the talent given to me by God and I am also thankful that I have a desire to utilize my gift and not allow it to go by the wayside. At 67 years of age, I cannot remember when I was not drawing or being creative in someway. From my early childhood drawing horseheads and Santa Clauses to the art I do today. I have no degree in art. I work in many mediums and because of time, do not always find the time to engage in all; however, I still do drawings, paintings, (oils & acrylics), wood-carving, painting with Chinese watercolors, photography, silk painting on scarves and banners with silk dyes and resist, some jewelry making and China painting on porcelain is thrown in for variety. I have illustrated for some publications, have shown in art galleries and I have won awards in various wood-carving show.
Presently, I sell my originals, prints, hand-carved birds, fish and fishing flies, and I have my own line of decorative wooden decoys which are branded with 'Slate Run Decoys' on the bottom and hand-signed. I also sell my jewelry designs. I teach wood-carving and I delight in the success of all of my students. Of those in my class who have chosen to enter carving contests, they all have won awards. The others have won through the knowledge that they can do it and the praise of their spouse, friends and fellow classmates.
My husband and I have 3 great sons, wives and families of grandchildren. All terrific!
I hope you enjoy my work & will come back again for another visit. If you chose to buy something of mine, I do hope you are pleased. If you do not purchase, that is fine & maybe I can be an influence for you to also be creative. I believe that one piece of art builds upon another and each one is a 'practice' piece for the next work and always improving is what I long to achieve no matter what form of art it takes.
