I have always enjoyed drawing since a very young child. With anything that left a mark, pencils, charcoal, pens ect. I remember seeing my first real art show, 'Artists of America' in Denver early 80's. Seeing original work by artists such as Richard Schmid was unknown to me before that show.
Travelling to the local zoo two or three times a week filling sketch books with drawings for a couple years, and keeping my hand in different subjects sharpened my ability when I started painting. I graduated with a degree in commercial illustration and worked freelance for clients such as Ford, Yamaha, Honda, as an illustrator. After studying under Mark Daily at The Art Students League in Denver I decided to pursue my true passion.
Today I enjoy looking for out of the way places that are unspoiled and beautiful. I tend to be drawn to contrasts, light and dark, warm and cool color, rough and smooth textures, hard and lost edges. Drawing and illustration has helped me to adapt to painting as I continue to scrutinize my technique and individual style. I paint almost exclusively from life. Many are in one sitting with others benefitting from small details added in the studio. I presently exhibit in three galleries, Orley's in Colorado Springs Grand Lake gallery in Grand Lake Colorado and Academy Art Gallery in Colorado Springs.
